Trauma Therapy

Recovering from a traumatic experience is a highly individualized process and one that requires specialized care.

Trauma is Not a One Size Fits All Experience

Trauma is Not a One Size Fits All Experience

What is experienced as traumatic to one person, surprisingly may not even affect another who had the same exact experience. Additionally, children, adolescents and teens who have experienced a traumatic event may also manifest symptoms differently and show symptoms of stress in a variety of ways. Therefore, in my work with trauma treatment, I tailor my sessions to meet the individual needs of your child while creating a safe, trauma informed environment to promote healing and wellness.

There is Hope

During trauma therapy, I work to assist in helping your child regain hope while navigating the complex aftermath of trauma. I provide a safe, trauma informed environment while offering therapeutic guidance, leading your child on a path toward wellness. Opportunities for processing and reframing experiences, exploring emotions, and gradually making sense of the trauma area all a part of the therapeutic process. Through evidence-based interventions such as trauma-focused cognitive behavioral therapy (TF-CBT) teens can learn to reframe distressing memories and develop healthy coping skills to manage triggers and symptoms. Therapy also offers invaluable support and validation, empowers individuals to reclaim a sense of empowerment and rebuild trust in themselves and the world around them. While the journey may be challenging, therapy instills hope by demonstrating that healing is possible, and that teens have the strength and resilience to overcome the impact of trauma and lead fulfilling lives.

Our Blueprint for wellness

At Glow, we blend time-tested techniques with innovative therapies to create personalized treatment plans. Our therapy sessions are built around powerful, evidence-based methods — ensuring each client's path is personally suited to their healing and growth.

Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT)

TF-CBT is similar to that of CBT as the primary focus is on the cognitive triangle and explores the connection to thoughts, feelings and behaviors. TF-CBT also allows the individual who has survived a traumatic event to dive deeper into the unhelpful and untrue narratives that were created during or after the event, which continue to promote stress and anxiety symptoms. This is delivered through a variety of age appropriate interventions such as story telling, journaling, art and role play activities.

Mindfulness

Mindfulness refers to a variety of skills meant to assist the mind and body to slow down, reconnect and refresh during times of stress. In our busy world, mindfulness can be a very powerful tool in reducing anxiety symptoms and promoting rest and a sense of wellness.

Solution Focused Brief Therapy

Solution Focused Brief Therapy is a treatment modality meant to assist the individual in looking toward the future instead of dwelling on the past. Through a system of therapeutic exercises, clients can be led on a path of self empowerment, goal setting and creating a sense of hope for the future.
